Specialized language courses are generally free of charge. Students will receive more detailed information, including information regarding the fees for the "Test Deutsch als Fremdsprache (TestDaF)", on the orientation day and upon enrolment.
Guest auditors are persons who neither study nor work at the University of Rostock. They can only participate in language courses after consultation with the department head (for the language) at the Language Center.
If participation is possible, auditors must also apply for a “guest auditor pass” at the Student Secretary’s office and pay the general guest auditor's fee. The guest auditor card must be presented to the course instructor.
The course fees for guest auditors are:
- 40 Euro for language courses with 2 SWS
- 80 Euro for language courses with 4 SWS
- 120 Euro for language courses with 6 SWS.
Once you have successfully enrolled in a course via our online system, normally you will receive a confirmation containing all the necessary payment information.
You must then deposit the amount into the account within three business days.
If you have any problems, please contact the Student Services Office: email@example.com
Before you transfer money, make sure that you know whether the course is free of charge for you. In this case, you should submit an exemption application in good time.
Students are exempt from payment of fees if they take language courses as an obligatory or optional subject in accordance with the study regulations of their chosen undergraduate course. Exemption is only granted upon written application and upon presentation of a current certificate of enrolment (stating the course of studies and, if applicable, the subjects) at the Student Office of the Language Centre. You must submit the exemption application document “Antrag auf Entgeltbefreiung”. (See below)
Exemption from fees can only be claimed in accordance with the requirements of the study regulations for language training (hours, language, degree to be obtained and, if applicable, subject orientation).
There is no exemption from the usage fees for e-learning modules from external providers that are used within the framework of the course.
We expressly point out that non-payment of course fees without an application for exemption from fees results in automatic cancellation of the registration.
Fill in the Application form and hand it in at the Language Centre, Ulmenstrasse 69, House 1, on the 4th floor:
- in the Student Services Office (room 402) or
- in the Secretary’s office (room 412) or
- in the marked mailbox on the 4th floor. “Befreiungsanträge”
If your application is rejected, you will be notified by e-mail. You will then have sufficient time to transfer the course fee.
Reimbursement of fees
Course fees will only be refunded if courses are cancelled by the Language Centre. Reimbursement for other reasons is generally excluded.
