Academic Writing Consultations
In the writing consultations, you will receive one-on-one help with academic writing projects in English. Language Center staff with extensive experience will discuss and work with you on your own texts such as research papers, theses, dissertations, scholarly articles, etc.
Our primary goal is helping academic staff and researchers preparing for publication and advanced students with research and academic papers. By working with you, we want to support you on your way to becoming "independent writers for life". For this reason, writing consultations do not include translation or proofreading / editing services.
Due to current limited resources we may have to limit the number of possible appointments and hope for your understanding.
For further information please contact Rebecca Collin.
Option 1 (online): Drop-in consultation session for short inquiries
Are you unsure about a formulation and would like to discuss it briefly? Simply join the next "drop-in" session and discuss your concerns. You do not need to sign up in advance: they are offered every Thursday during the semester from 3.15 to 3.45 pm. Join our online meeting room. (We plan on about 10 - 15 minutes to answer your questions.)
Option 2 (online): Individual writing consultation/coaching session (currently no more than 2- 3x/semester/person)
Currently, we can offer two 30-minute appointments per week. (In addition to the drop-in times). If there is sufficient demand, we will try to increase capacity.
Please sign up for a time slot, as this will allow for easier communication and management of enquiries.
Ideally, you should send the text you would like to discuss and your request to the Writing Center staff at least 2 days in advance. Depending on the issue (more general or more detailed), 1 - 5 pages of text can be discussed. Ideally, your text is editable and can be edited collaboratively (e.g. Unibox).
